The Leitrim County Childcare Committee was established in 2001 and is composed of representatives of the key stakeholders in childcare in the County. The formation of the committee came after five years of intense development activity in the childcare sector in the county and is part of a nationwide framework to promote a strategic approach to Childcare development.

Leitrim County Childcare Committee’s Strategic Plan gives an outline of the future work of Leitrim County Childcare Committee for the period 2007- 2010.

The priority areas of work for the Committee with Childcare and Family Support Services for the period 2007 – 2010 will be to:

• Co-ordinate strategy, policy and information.
• Promote an increase in the supply and range of services.
• Develop, implement and promote pro-active strategies to ensure long-term sustainability of services.
• Promote the access of all families and encourage diversity and choice in the range of services provided.
• Support the development of quality provision.
