The role of the Childcare and Family Support Worker is to support new and existing After school services, and to co-ordinate the Parents Network.
In 2010 the Parents Network provided Barnardos training on Communicating More Effectively with your Teenager. The training addressed topics including Family Decisions, Listening to your Teenager, Preparing your Teenager for the next Stage- Secondary School, Third level Education/Work.

The Leitrim County Childcare Committee in partnership with the Health Service Executive facilitated Fas le Cheile Positive parenting Course in 2010. The course was held in The Monks Den, Fenagh.
Leitrim County Childcare Committee plan to hold a Fas le Cheile parenting course for parents of children with autism in 2011.
In April 2011 a number of Fathers and Children attended the annual Fathers and Children’s day in Drumshanbo. Activities on the day included a scavenger hunt, boat making and games.
The Books for Children Programme aims to encourage literacy in the home and encourage reading in children from a young age.
Summer Scheme Projects support parents and provide summer activities for children to promote social inclusion and equality and diversity by encouraging parental involvement and increasing skills within the community for childcare workers and parents.
Leitrim County Childcare Committee provide support towards the development of new and existing Summer Projects.
Funding is available from the HSE, VEC, Leitrim Development Integrated Company through the Leitrim County Childcare Committee.
There are 21 After schools in Leitrim
Training for after schools: in 2011 there are two workshops planed to support Childcare workers in their role as After school workers. In 2010 topics covered in workshops included Arts and Crafts, Games and Activities and Healthy Eating.
